Taking out IHT mitigation products usually increases your spending money!

This is extraordinary but true. Here is a revelation, which we at HMW ca can testify is indeed true.

Two years ago a client of ours enjoyed a net income of £13,000. She owned a large property that would attract a crippling IHT charge on death and she asked us to look into the matter.

The first thing we did was to bring the skills of Brian King of Christchurch Consultancy to bear and he showed this good lady how it would be possible to reduce the IHT charge to nil - as he usually can. But the problem with IHT mitigation is that the people to benefit from a lower IHT bill are the next generation. This lady, herself, apparently wouldn't enjoy any benefit herself - or so you might think.

But, with IHT planning, you really can have your cake and eat it.

We predicted that, by adopting the strategies Brian and we had proposed, this lady's spending money would increase from £13,000 to £17,000. This looked pretty good but, as you will have already spotted, this prediction was made two years ago and a lot has happened since, hasn't it? The stock market has halved - ouch indeed! So, what has this done to our prediction of Spring 2001?

With some trepidation we revisited the figures and were delighted to discover that her spending money had increased not to £17,000 but £20,000.

We were nearly as delighted at this development as she was.
